Arun Jaitley: Exceptional leadership died at 66

Arun Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS on 09 August and was in critical condition since then. He took his last breath on saturday at 12:07pm.
Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley died yesterday at AIIMS hospital.

Former Finance Minister, Corporate Affair Minister, Defence minister, Law Minister and I&B Minister Arun Jaitley died yesterday at AIIMS hospital in Delhi. He was veteran politician for of BJP and a troubleshooter at the time of crisis for his party.

Achievements of Arun Jaitley

Arun Jaitley was known as a leader with exceptional courage. It can be seen during his tenure as Finance Minister. He played key role at the time of Demonetization, implementation of GST, merger of Railway budget with General Budget and introducing insolvency code. GST was one of the long pending tax structure in India. No one dared to introduce GST but Jaitley and Modi Government did. He, as a Finance minister made sure that demonetization should not affect anyone. Only problem should be created for black money holders.

Early life

Jaitley was born on 28 December 1952 in Punjabi Hindu Brahmin family. He completed his graduation in 1973. During emergency in 1975, he took part in protest against the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Jaitley was also in detention for 19 months. Arun completed his LLB in 1977 and started practising law. He joined BJP in 1980. He was the part of Jan Sangh before BJP.

Cricket and Bollywood

Arun Jaitley use to love cricket and bollywood movies. Many times during interview, he have given example of cricket. He was not just a cricket fan but was also part of it. Arun Jaitley was the President of DDCA and Vice president of BCCI during 1999-2013. Arun Jaitley resigned in 2013 after the Lalit Modi-IPL Scam. He also loved to watch bollywood movies. He was great fan of Dev Anand and Hema Malini.

Great Leader of opposition

Arun Jaitley was appointed as Leader of Opposition during UPA-II in Rajya Sabha. He was always ahead to take on Manmohan Government’s failure. Jaitley also supported India Against Corruption movement of Anna Hazare. He spoke hard against all the corruption cases of Congress and UPA ministers.

Last respect to Jaitley

After death of Arun Jaitley, his body was kept at his residence. Leaders across party lines paid tribute to him. President Ramnath Kovind, Vice president Venkaiah Naidu, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Ram Vilas Paswan paid tribute to him. Many have remembered him and paid tribute on twitter.

Narendra Modi is on his official visit and he spoke with the family of Arun Jaitley. Family requested Narendra Modi not to cut short his official tour. While addressing Indians in Bahrain, he remember Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj

Arun Jaitley’s Body has been kept at BJP Head quarter and Cremation rights will be performed at the Nigambodh Ghat around 2:30pm today.
